60th Year Reunion Celebration Update

The 60th Year Reunion Celebration Committee (Reunion Committee) met on Thursday 26th March with the following people present: Ioane Aleke FA’AVAE, Shauna ELDRIDGE, Jaz MATAURI-GREIG, Vasati VAOIVA, Sharon THOM (New Committee Member), Erin POA, Gary PEACH. Apologies from Tokoa TUAKANA, Joseph APII and P’ilua AUTUGUFA.

The Committee has finalised the following details:

  1. Venue – Ellerslie Event Centre

  2. Cost – Friday Night Meet and Greet – $50.00

  3. Saturday Dinner (at the Ellerslie Event Centre) – $115.00

Covers: FULL Pacific Island Buffet Dinner, Security, Combo package $150.00 per person – (Friday and Saturday night).  Dance Floor (TBC), Band (TBC)

An email has been sent again to the SEHC Board Secretary to return the MoU signed.

Update on Alumni Merchandise.

The Alumni Board has approved samples of Alumni Merchandise to be made and this task is now given to Tokoa Tuakana (ex Student of Hillary College in the 1990s). We are eagerly awaiting these to be produced for sale to the Alumni.

Your membership fee will cover administration costs and maintenance of the Alumni webpage. WE WANT MORE ALUMNI MEMBERS – PLEASE ENCOURAGE YOUR FRIENDS !!!!!!

Please note moving forward your 2026 Alumni user login and passwords will end each year on the 31st of December.  You will however be included in any email updates in January and February as reminders to renew your Membership.

Alumni Board member, Robyn Russell (nee Knapper), and the Board Chair, Gary Peach, are putting together an OC,HC,SEHC Alumni Constitution.  Ongoing.

 

SEHC Marae Accommodation for the 60th Year Reunion Celebration –  Alumni Members

The OC, HC, SEHC Alumni Board can confirm that the SEHC Marae has been booked for accommodation for any Alumni members who want to stay, at a cost, for the weekend. You will need to be a 2026 Alumni Financial member to receive the accommodation option. Priorities will be given to “out of towners” either from overseas or outside of Auckland that need to stay the whole weekend.

Dates: Friday 2/10/2026 and Saturday 3/10/2026

Location: Sir Edmund Hillary Collegiate (SEHC) Marae

Costs: TBC, includes 2x full hot breakfasts, 2x nights accomodation.  More details to be posted in our Alumni Chair/Secretary Report – April 2026 update in regard to Marae Accommodation Registration Form.

Marae Sleeps: 30 people

All profits will come to the OC, HC, SEHC Alumni and then back to SEHC in some way or form to support the school with targeted projects or whatever is needed in collaboration with the three SEHC Principals.

The aim is to keep the cost affordable while covering food and basic marae hosting expenses.

Daily Breakdown:

Friday 2 October 2026 – Arrival anytime after 4pm with an overnight stay.  The Meet and Greet Evening for the Reunion is at SEHC and you will be able to walk there. There will be finger food available at the Meet & Greet function included in your 60th Year Reunion Friday night fee.

Saturday 7 October 2026 – Breakfast 8am-9am.  The Sports day is on the SEHC fields which again is walking distance away. Don’t forget the Otara flea-market is still operating from 6am-12noon.  Note, there will be a 60th Year Reunion Dinner that evening; details on Flyer.  Transport to the Dinner venue is not included.

Sunday 8 October 2026 – Breakfast 8am-9am.  Clean-up, service, departure.  We are expected to vacate the premises after breakfast and clean up on Sunday morning.  We will announce the results of our Alumni elections at the conclusion of the weekend events; more details on this process will follow.  The Alumni Board election will be on-line and connected to your Alumni membership log-in.
